Bal Harbour's Winter Season Moves to the Beach Path, the Jetty and the Park

Starting the first weekend in October, vendors set up on the beach path near 96th Street and Collins Avenue for the fifth season of The Market at Bal Harbour. The Village says the market runs every Saturday and Sunday from October through May, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in partnership with Florida Fresh Market. They'll be selling produce, coconut water, juices, artisanal bread, jams, honey, nut butters, and dried fruits and vegetables. If the market runs every weekend through the last one in May, that comes to 35 weekends, from October 3, 2026, through May 29–30, 2027.

The market is the first event on a fall calendar that matters more than usual this year. Two of the Village's best-known gathering places at the north and south ends of Collins are dark. Most of what fills the gap through November is the Village's own programming, held on public sand and public lawn.

Two familiar addresses are quiet this fall

Hillstone closed for good on Monday, August 10, after 11 years overlooking Bal Harbour Shops. World Red Eye said the closure followed the end of Hillstone's lease, but didn't say why the lease ended. In its closure report, New Times said it didn't know what would happen to the space. As of this writing, no successor has been named publicly.

A mile north, The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami at 10295 Collins Avenue is closed for an extensive renovation that touches guest rooms, suites, dining, the pool, the beach, the building exterior, and the public spaces. It plans to welcome guests again starting in January 2027. The resort's site describes the new version this way:

"The reimagined resort will introduce a chef-led signature restaurant, an exclusive Members Club, and an elevated Ritz-Carlton Spa."

Its dining page promises "new tastes in late 2026" across three concepts. The page doesn't name the concepts, a chef, or an opening date.

The address matters for the fall calendar. The Village holds several of its October events at the north beach by the jetty, 10301 Collins Avenue, which is right next to a resort that won't have guests until after New Year's.

The calendar, by location

The Village's fall schedule groups naturally into three outdoor spots. Each one hosts a different kind of evening.

The beach path at 96th Street, Bal Harbour Beach South

  • The Market at Bal Harbour, opening weekend October 3–4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., then every weekend through May.

The north beach by the pier, 10301 Collins Avenue

  • Sounds by the Sea with The French Horn Collective, Sunday, October 11, 4 to 5:30 p.m. It's open to residents and hotel guests.
  • Movie Night on the Beach with Moana, the live-action version, Saturday, October 17, 6:30 to 9 p.m. The Village's tourism calendar encourages costumes and says the evening opens with activities, refreshments, and a tropical island grill.
  • Full Moon Yoga on the Beach, October 26, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

Waterfront Park, 18 Bal Bay Drive

  • The Fall Festival, Saturday, October 24, 7 to 9 p.m., with a train ride, a corn maze, festive treats, and games. Admission is free for Bal Harbour residents and hotel guests. Residents register through the Village's CivicRec portal, and Village staff verify each account before approving it.
  • Bespoke Bal Harbour: Doormat Designers, Sunday, November 15, 3 to 5 p.m. The fee is $25, and it's open to residents with a valid All Access Card.

Most of these events are listed for "residents and hotel guests." This fall, one of the Village's best-known oceanfront resorts is closed for that whole stretch, while the jetty events take place on the sand right beside it.

At the Shops, the dining list has changed

Inside Bal Harbour Shops, the dining list reflects changes made over the past several months. China Grill, the restaurant the Shops' directory says reopened at the entrance on "June 9th," is at 9700 Collins Avenue, Suite D135. Slim's, Stephen Starr's steakhouse, opened March 17 at Suite 101. So the Shops now has a new steakhouse and a returning dinner name, along with an empty Hillstone space with no announced tenant.

Two fashion openings also came this year. TOTEME, the Swedish label, opened its first Miami store at Unit 269 on July 1st. Peserico opened at Suite 262; FashionNetwork reported the boutique in late June.

The Shops' October calendar is small and specific:

  1. A Cartier Eyewear event at Morgenthal Frederics, Wednesday, October 14, through Sunday, October 18, noon to 8 p.m. each day.
  2. "Love Notes" events supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, October 1 through 31. The Shops says more details are coming.
  3. The Shops' Creative Challenge, which accepts entries until 11:59 p.m. on October 16. Winners and runners-up will be announced November 6.

What's still unannounced

Three things on this fall map don't have dates or names yet. The first is the next tenant in the former Hillstone space. The second is the three dining concepts promised at the Ritz-Carlton, which the resort says it will announce in late 2026 ahead of its January reopening. The third is the Harbourfront Park, Jetty and Cutwalk project. In the Village's June 26 capital update, it was waiting on its last building permit, with a construction-price presentation to the Council next. The update gave no start or completion date. Until that project moves, the jetty end of the beach stays as it is now: the place for the French horns on October 11, Moana on October 17, and yoga under the full moon on October 26.

The Village's flyer for the Fall Festival shows a watercolor child in an orange coat with a pumpkin basket in front of Bal Harbour architecture. Most of the season's public events fall on the four weekends between October 3 and November 15. The market keeps going on weekends long after that, through the end of May.

For boaters, the jetty and the cut are where Bal Harbour meets the water. At Ross Milroy Group, we track how projects like the Harbourfront Park and Jetty work, along with the Ritz-Carlton's return in January, will change that stretch of shoreline, and what those changes mean for owners on both sides of Collins.
